'Yehi toh maza hai,' says Neena Gupta on starring in Sardar Ka Grandson as Kanwaljit Singh's mother after playing his partner in Saans

Neena Gupta is riding high on the appreciation received for her recently released Netflix film Sardar Ka Grandson. She plays the role of Sardar, a nonagenarian, who desires to visit her ancestral home in Lahore, Pakistan, one last time. The Kaashvie Nair directorial stars Arjun Kapoor as her grandson and Kanwaljit Singh as her son. If you remember, Kanwaljit had played the role of Neena's husband in the show Saans which aired in 1998.

Fans were quick to notice this and shared it on social media. During an interview with an entertainment portal, a fan's reaction was picked up and Neena gave an answer. A user wrote, "Don't tell me Kanwaljit Singh is Neena Gupta's son in the movie? They were co-stars in the 90s." Laughing, Neena said, "Bhaiya yehi toh acting ka maza hai. Kal jo aapka lover tha woh aapka beta hai, yehi toh maza hai."

Saans was about Priya Kapoor (Neena Gupta), Gautam Kapoor (Kanwaljit Singh) and their teenage kids Akul and Mithi. It orbited around how an extra-marital affair affects their relationship. 

Sardar Ka Grandson also stars Rakul Preet Singh, Aditi Rao Hydari, John Abraham, Soni Razdan, Kumud Mishra and Divya Seth. The film is produced by T-Series, Emmay Entertainment and JA Entertainment. Anuja Chauhan and Kaashvie have written the screenplay while Amitosh Nagpal has penned the dialogues.
