The Intern: Deepika Padukone welcomes Amitabh Bachchan on board; megastar steps into Rishi Kapoor's role

Deepika Padukone was all excited to reunite with Rishi Kapoor for the Indian adaptation of The Intern. However, destiny had a different plan. Rishi breathed his last on April 30, 2020, after battling leukemia for almost 2 years. After the unfortunate demise of Rishi, the question was who will replace him in The Intern. Now, the question has been answered.

Deepika, on Instagram, announced that Amitabh Bachchan will be stepping into Rishi's role. For the unversed, the two shared the screen space in Shoojit Sircar's Piku (2015) and have also signed Nag Ashwin's pan-world project co-starring Prabhas. The Intern will be Mr. Bachchan and Deepika's third film together.
