Given the current COVID-19 situation, there will be no prayer meet for Saroj Khan: Veteran choreographer’s family issues statement

Veteran Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan passed away in the wee hours of today morning. She was 71-years-old. Saroj Khan was admitted to Guru Nanak Hospital after she complained of breathing issues. She suffered a cardiac arrest today and was buried in a cemetery in Mumbai’s Malad by her family at 7 am.

Her family issued an official statement on her Instagram page stating that no prayer meet is being held for the acclaimed choreographer due to the Coronavirus outbreak in Mumbai. Sharing a picture of Saroj Khan, the family wrote, “Thank you for all your messages and for keeping Mummy in your prayers. Given the current COVID-19 situation, there will be no prayer meet. Whenever the situation improves, we will meet and celebrate the life of Saroj Khan.”

Saroj Khan was one of the most celebrated choreographers of Bollywood. A triple National Award winner she has been instrumental in establishing careers of several actresses including Madhuri Dixit, Meenakshi Seshadri and others. Tributes have been pouring in since morning for the legendary choreographer.
