World Environment Day 2020: Ayushmann Khurrana sheds light on water conservation, wife Tahira Kashyap jots down 5 tips to stay in sync with nature

On June 5 every year, the world celebrates World Environment Day to cherish the beauty of nature. Marking the occasion and the need to protect our surroundings, Ayushmann Khurrana who stands up to raise his voice on issues that affect him deeply, is now urging the people of India to be judicious in terms of water consumption and batting for preserving the resource at a time when water scarcity is plaguing people across the globe.
 
Ayushmann has come forward to support actress Bhumi Pednekar’s initiative Climate Warrior that is trying to raise awareness on several important issues plaguing our climate through a campaign called One Wish For The Earth. Bhumi’s campaign will see Bollywood’s biggest thought leaders come forward to discuss climate justice. The platform will see the stars urge citizens to take climate change seriously and, along with them, also do their bit to protect the planet. “These are exceptional times that we have seen in the last few months. It's time to wake up, it's time to take notice, It's time to participate,” he said, adding, “This environment day my one wish for the earth is or rather request for all of us to use water wisely. It is a scarce resource and right now we are even more dependent on it to wash our hands at regular intervals to battle this pandemic.”

Ayushmann asked citizens to be conscious that they need to preserve water because it impacts many. He urged for unity in protecting people’s right for water. The star said, “In the endeavour to keep ourselves safe, we should not forget about the bigger goal. We need to use water wisely and conservatively so that our future generations have it enough and more. It's my humble request to all of you to become climate warriors and work towards a clean and a green future.”

On the other hand, Ayushmann's wife Tahira Kashyap shared a special video talking about the environment. In her video, the writer-filmmaker has shared five different ways in which we can make a difference on an individual level.

 

She can be seen talking about how we must not just preserve the environment but our health as well. Amongst her five tips to stay in sync with nature, the first one is to not litter the streets by throwing garbage anywhere we feel like, instead only dispose it off in a bin. The second important message which she conveyed is to not destroy plants and rather do some gardening at home by trying to grow some veggies. Thirdly, she told how we can achieve a lot at home by saying no to plastic and adapt to glass and wood for our everyday necessities. She also suggested a reduction in wastage of food by not hoarding a lot of groceries in these challenging times when many are dying of hunger. Next, Tahira emphasized on going green by including a lot of veggies in our everyday diet since it benefits both, the environment and the health. And lastly, she mentioned the importance of cleansing our mind and internal self because we are who make the environment and we need to protect the species called "Human Beings". Tahira focused on how we need to be happy and maintain our calm by staying patient. 

Opening up about the same, Tahira said in a statement, "Seeing the current situation and the world we are living in right now, it's pretty much the reflection of the causes that we have created in the past. We have a tendency to think that we and the environment are two different entities but I feel it's time we realise that our environment and we are one. In order to have a better future, devoid of global warming, floods, viruses and cyclones, we need to make the correct causes in our present. This is why I thought to share these quick tips which are very doable. It's something that each one of us can accomplish."
