Taapsee Pannu’s ‘Thappad’ poster accused of being plagiarized from Mexican film ‘After Lucia’

Taapsee Pannu’s upcoming film Thappad’s poster had sent the social media in a frenzy because the netizens pointed out the striking similarity with the 2012 Mexican film After Lucia. Both posters feature a close-up shot of the lead actress captured in motion, after supposedly being slapped. The netizens, as well as Diet Sabya, called out the team of Thappad for copying the poster.

The makers of Thappad have been accused of plagiarism but as Bollywood says ‘it’s inspired’. The film charts the journey of Taapsee as she files for divorce from her husband (played by Pavail Gulati) in the film after he slaps her. The trailer shows the different reactions of the people around her who try to justify the act by calling it ‘just a slap’.

Thappad is directed by Anubhav Sinha and has earned praise for the trailer. However, the poster became a bone of contention since it definitely looks copied or let’s says in Bollywood lingo ‘inspired’.

The film is produced by Anubhav Sinha and Bhushan Kumar and is slated to release on February 28.
