Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and other B-Town celebs hail P. V Sindhu for the historic win at BWF World Championships

A string of Bollywood personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma among many others have hailed ace shuttler P.V. Sindhu for becoming the first Indian to win the BWF World Championships.

Sindhu defeated Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in straight games 21-7, 21-7 to lift the women's singles title in Basel, Switzerland on super Sunday, as India also defeated West Indies by 318 runs in the World Test Championship underway in Antigua. This is Sindhu's fifth medal at the World Championships, which is the joint highest in women's singles in the history of the tournament along with Xhang Ning of China -- a two-time Olympic gold medallist. Apart from the two silvers Sindhu won in the last two editions, she had also won the bronze in 2013 and 2014.

Aamir Khan also congratulated the shuttler by writing, “Congratulations P.V. Sindhu. You make us so proud! Respect. a.”

Akshay Kumar wrote on Twitter, “Heartiest congratulations P.V. Sindhu on becoming the first Indian to win a at the #BWFWorldChampionships2019. What a feat to achieve, you completely smashed it.”

Ajay Devgn went on Twitter to say, “Congratulations Sindhu on your big win. A proud moment for India P.V. Sindhu.”

While filmmaker Karan Johar wrote, “What a proud moment for India. Congratulations P.V. Sindhu on this amazing achievement of becoming the first Indian ever to win a gold at the BWF World Championship.”

Rajkummar Rao also congratulated Sindhu on Twitter by saying, “The whole country is so proud of you P.V. Sindhu. You are a true Champion of the world. Take a bow.”

Anushka Sharma wrote, “First Indian to win gold at the BWF World Championships 2019... @Pvsindhu1 what a terrific performance! Congratulations.. you go girl.”
