'Director Ayan Mukerji had seen Naagin and felt I could play the villain': Mouni Roy reveals how she landed a role in 'Brahmastra'

Mouni Roy, who is all set to play the negative lead role in Ayan Mukerji's upcoming film Brahmastra, recently revealed how she landed a role in the film. The film which also stars Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, and Akkineni Nagarjuna is all set to release in Summer 2020.

In an interview to a leading daily, Mouni shared that she was surprised to know that she is the main antagonist in the film. "I am playing the main villain in the film. I am really looking forward to it. What is more liberating for me is playing different characters that challenge me. I was surprised initially that they wanted me to play the villain," she said.

Mouni added that she landed the role because she played the evil Naagin in her television show. "Ayan Mukerji (director) had seen something from Naagin and felt I could play the villain. So you never know what clicks with whom. As an actor, you should be willing to experiment and be versatile otherwise you can't learn and grow," she said.

On the work front, Mouni was last seen in John Abraham starrer RAW
