The failure hit me a little hard, people told me not to show my reaction: Varun Dhawan on Kalank disaster

Varun Dhawan recently admitted to being hit really hard by the failure of his latest film Kalank. The actor revealed that he didn't know how to react as this is not what he had expected.

Vaun released a YouTube video from his trip to Thailand. In the video, he is seen talking about his feelings about Kalank's failure. He said, "My 32nd birthday... But I am going to tell you how it all went down. I was a little down because my latest release did not go the way I thought it would and it did hit me a little hard, I will be very honest. I didn't know how to react to it. Lot of people told me, 'don't show it.' I don't know how to behave like that. Failures are a part of life."

He went on to say, "My friends though had my back. [They] told me 'pack your bags.' I said, 'What are we going to do?' They said, 'Muay Thai.' So the 1:25 flight on GoAir, we flew and the rest you can watch."

Kalank emerged as the biggest opener of 2019 but the film's box office collection soon saw a big drop. The multi starrer has grossed less than Rs 70 crore at the domestic market. Kalank, which was produced by Karan Johar, starred Varun, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha. The film was directed by Abhishek Varman.
