Ranbir Kapoor was the “absolute first person” to have learnt about Brahmastra, director Ayan Mukerji revealed in an Instagram post on Saturday. Not just that, Ranbir was also the first actor to sign up for the film. Moreover, Ayan also informed through his post that the idea of Brahmastra was conceived during his writing trip for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in 2011 and after that, he made the first phone call to Ranbir.
Directed by Ayan, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani starred Ranbir Kapoor, co-starring Deepika Padukone, and released in 2013. Ayan debuted on Instagram recently and over the next few days, will be posting details about the film and its characters. The image that accompanies Ayan’s post features Ranbir and the director on the sets.

Brahmastra stars Ranbir, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan in the principle roles while the logo of the film was unveiled on March 6. In Prayagraj earlier this week, around 150 drones lit up the sky forming the Brahmastra logo at Kumbh on Maha Shivratri as Alia, Ranbir and Ayan launched it. Alia’s character in Brahmastra is called Isha.

Filmmaker Karan Johar is producing Brahmastra under his Dharma Productions banner. Brahmastra is a fantasy adventure trilogy and will release on Christmas.
