Sanjay Leela Bhansali takes Ishaan Khatter under his wings, to star in SLB's production next?

Ishaan Khatter had an impressive debut in Shashank Khaitan’s Dhadak opposite Janhvi Kapoor and received critical acclaim with Majid Majidi’s Beyond the Clouds. The actor has impressed one and all with his screen presence as well as his opinions in interviews and media interactions, which has resulted in several film offers coming his way. As per reports, ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was quite impressed with Ishaan’s performance and has offered him a role in his next production venture.

However, nothing is concrete as the formalities are not yet complete. An official announcement is awaited on the same. An entertainment portal quoted a source, “Sanjay sir was quite impressed with Ishaan in Dhadak. He has offered the role in his next to the young actor. However, the formalities are yet to be worked out. The film is still in the initial stages and Ishaan is yet to sign on the dotted line.”

We wonder whether the film in question is the remake of Vijay Bhatt’s 1952 mega-hit Baiju Bawra starring Bharat Bhushan and Meena Kumari. In fact, Ishaan will look great essaying the role of Bhushan. Like Baiju Bawra we will soon break this story to you.

Bhansali has been looking to expand his production list and has been backing projects with newcomers. He is already making films like Tuesdays and Fridays with newcomers Anmol Thakeria and Jhataleka Malhotra and a yet untitled film with niece Sharmin Sehgal and Javed Jaffrey’s son Mizaan Jaffrey. Bhansali’s last directorial venture was last year’s blockbuster hit Padmaavat which had Ishaan’s brother Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in the lead.
