This is so WRONG: Kangana Ranaut censured by Hansal Mehta, Apurva Asrani and Pooja Bhatt on Manikarnika row

Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi has snowballed into a controversy after filmmaker Krish’s comments over the actress taking credits as the primary director of the film while she in the process, has seemingly acquired scathing reactions from Hansal Mehta, Apurva Asrani and Pooja Bhatt. More on the Krish bit later. For now, we’ll elaborate on what Mehta, Apurva and Pooja posted, in response to the headlines that Kangana has been making over Manikarnika so far.

Mehta, in his elaborate statement, mentioned that he is often “dragged” into controversies surrounding Kangana considering the fact that he shares an unpleasant history with her with respect to their 2017 film Simran. The filmmaker directed Kangana in Simran and got involved in a massive row between the actress and Apurva Asrani over the writing credits in the film. In his current statement, though, Mehta has refused to divulge further details, but did add, that after his fallout with Kangana, he moved on, for the sake of his “sanity”.

Apurva, meanwhile, ended up declaring Manikarnika as a flop film. His tweet is cutting enough!

In order to explain Pooja’s comment, you need to know the background of the Manikarnika row. Kangana, who plays the titular role in the film, stepped into Krish’s shoes as the director after he departed the project due to what has been blamed on scheduling conflicts and creative differences. As Krish addressed his altercation with Kangana over Manikarnika, Pooja, in support of the director, said that it is unfair. “This is so wrong... on every level... this is not the industry I was born to and not the industry I wish to inherit,” Pooja tweeted.

Krish has been addressing his ‘creative differences’ with Kangana after Manikarnika’s release and also told a leading entertainment portal on Sunday that his version of the film was met with displeasure by Zee Studios, who has invested in the project as well. Kangana also behaved “rudely” with him, is what Krish claimed.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi opened to mixed reviews on January 25 and has been faring well at the box office.
