Farhan Akhtar to play a boxer in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's sports film titled 'Toofan'

Actor-director-producer Farhan Akhtar collaborated with filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for the first time in 2013 film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, based on the life of Olympian sprinter Milkha Singh. The film was not only appreciated by the audience and the critics alike but went on to receive the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

Now after a hiatus of six years, the two are all set to work together for another sports-drama titled Toofan, which will see Farhan in the role of a boxer. The film is backed by Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani. In fact, Farhan confirmed his collaboration with Rakeysh on Twitter and shared his excitement on embarking on a new journey.

Revealing more details about Toofan, a source close to the development informed the a leading daily, "It’s not a biopic. It is a fictional story scripted by Anjum Rajabali. Farhan fell in love with it as soon as he heard it. Rakeysh has already started the prep and Farhan will be training extensively in boxing. He is looking forward to working with Rakeysh again. The film should roll this year."

Meanwhile, on the work front, Farhan is looking forward to Shonali Bose's The Sky Is Pink, which features him alongside his Dil Dhadakne Do co-star Priyanka Chopra and Dangal girl Zaira Wasim. On the personal front, Farhan has been grabbing a lot of attention for his alleged relationship with Shibani Dandekar.
