Vidya Balan to feature as 'human computer' Shakuntala Devi in Anu Menon's next?

It would not be wrong to say that Vidya Balan is one of the most versatile actresses in the Bollywood film fraternity. In fact, She is known to play real-life characters with great finesse, be it the role of Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture or Geeta Bali in Marathi film Ekk Albela. Moreover, she is all set to make her Telugu film debut as Basavatarakam, NTR’s first wife in Krish's upcoming biopic on the late actor-politician.

Now once again, we hear that Vidya has been approached to play the role of Shakuntala Devi, a mathematician fondly known as 'human calculator', in Anu Menon’s next directorial. A leading daily quoted a source as saying, "Vidya found the story really inspiring when Anu approached her but is yet to sign the project. Anu has researched a lot for the film which is currently in the final stages of scripting, following which the team will start on an extensive prep."

Produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film is expected to roll sometime next year.

For those caught unaware, Shakuntala Devi’s talent for numbers earned her a place in the 1982 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records. Be it her arithmetic skills or her knowledge as a astrologer and writer, she had many feathers to her cap.

When Anu was quizzed about the film, she quipped, "It’s too early to comment. We are still writing the script — nothing is confirmed." Well, we certainly hope everything falls into place and we get to see Vidya in another biopic.
