49th IFFI: Rajyavardhan Rathore, Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar inaugurate the film festival

The 49th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) opened today.  Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore, filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Akshay Kumar inaugurated the festival. The film festival will be high on glamour as it will celebrate both national and international cinema. The opening ceremony will also feature The Aspern Papers director Julien Landais, singer Arijit Singh, directors Ramesh Sippy, Madhur Bhandarkar and Singaporean American actor Chin Han.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Governor of Goa, Mridula Sinha, PWD minister Sudin Madhav Dhavalikar; and Chairperson, Film Certification Appellate Tribunal, Prasoon Joshi. The festival will have many ‘In-conversation’ sessions which will be a family affair as Anil Kapoor and Rhea; Boney, Arjun and Janhvi Kapoor; David and Varun Dhawan and Rana Daggubati with uncle Venkatesh and father Suresh Babu will share the stage.

Apart from the star families, Kriti Sanon, Diana Penty, Rakul Preet Singh, Chitrangada Singh, Jim Sarbh, Rahul Bose, Pankaj Tripathi, Nila Madhab Panda, Rajshri Deshpande and Divya Dutta will also be seen in conversation during the film festival.

The festival is celebrating the birth centenary year of Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman with ‘Wild At Heart, Master At Craft’- in-conversation session that will be feature Mikael Timm, Jannike Ahlund and Ulrika Rindegard and will be moderated by Sunit Tandon. The festival will also showcase seven best films of Bergman.

The 49th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will focus on the state of Jharkhand and films that are based on the state like A Death in the Gunj, Ranchi Diaries and Panchlet will be showcased. The festival will end on November 28.
