Zero: Katrina Kaif takes inspiration from Hollywood stars for her role of an alcoholic

Aanand L Rai’s forthcoming film Zero, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, has piqued the interest of the audience ever since it was announced. The trailer of the film, which is all set to release on December 21, will be unveiled on the occasion of Shah Rukh's 53rd birthday today on November 2. In fact, only recently, SRK revealed two posters with his leading ladies from the film and we just cannot contain our excitement.

Although the storyline of the film has been a closely guarded secret, it is not unknown that Shah Rukh plays a vertically challenged character called Bauua Singh while Anushka will feature as a struggling scientist. On the other hand, Katrina is said to be playing a superstar who is suffering from alcoholism.

And now we hear, Katrina has taken inspiration from the personal journeys of Hollywood stars Liza Minnelli, Demi Moore and Lindsay Lohan, in order to portray her role with finesse. Since all them have battled alcohol abuse at different points in their career, Katrina felt their lives would help her to understand her layered role better. A leading daily quoted a source from the film's unit as saying, "It's definitely one of Katrina's toughest roles to date. In order to understand the psyche of a star who resorts to alcoholism, she did extensive research on Hollywood stars who battled similar demons."

Reportedly, the actress has also referred to books like Blackout and More, which includes stories of people at different stages of addiction and how they kicked the habit, to bring more depth to her role.

Workwise, apart from Zero, Katrina will also be seen in Salman Khan starrer Bharat.
