Katrina Kaif to play a Pakistani dancer opposite Varun Dhawan in Remo D’souza’s dance film

Varun Dhawan and Katrina Kaif are all set to begin filming Remo D’souza’s new project in January while details of their characters from the film surfaced in a report published by a leading magazine. Considering the fact that the untitled film is a dance-based project, Varun has been reportedly cast as an Indian dancer while Katrina plays a dancer from Pakistan.

The report also provides an insight into the plot as it claims that Katrina’s and Varun’s characters meet at an international dance competition in London. Filming will span across three months from January.

Remo’s film, if media reports are to be believed, was touted to be made at a budget of Rs 100 crore but a leading daily reported in June that production house T-series apparently asked the filmmaker to reduce the total cost of the film after his last directorial, Race 3 failed to perform at the box office.

"The budget was pegged at Rs 100 crore. After Race 3, Remo knows the amount of hard work that goes into making a 3D film. So, when the producers urged him to reduce the production cost, Remo didn't budge. He's sure that with stars like Varun and Katrina, the film will make profit. The makers finally relented on the amount,” the daily had quoted a source as saying. No official confirmation was provided on this report though.

The untitled dance film co-stars Prabhudeva, Dharmesh Yelande, Raghav Juyal and Punit Pathak.

Katrina, in the meantime, is gearing up for the release of Thugs Of Hindostan, co-starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The film will release on Diwali, November 8. Varun is shooting for Kalank.
