Sadak 2 teaser out: Mahesh Bhatt returns to direction with Sanjay, Pooja, Aditya and Alia starrer

It is not unknown that filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actor Sanjay Dutt are collaborating yet again for the sequel to their 1991 hit film Sadak, which also starred Pooja Bhatt. Amidst speculations surrounding the cast of the film, Alia Bhatt shared the first teaser of Sadak 2 on her father's 70th birthday. The teaser confirmed that the film will star Sanjay, Pooja, Alia and Aditya Roy Kapoor and is slated to release on March 25, 2020.

The teaser, which begins with a few scenes from the 1991 film, also revealed that Mahesh is all set to return direction after a hiatus. Sadak 2 also marks Alia's first project with father Mahesh and sister Pooja.

Since the film is special for various reasons, Mahesh is excited to be working with his daughters but is equally thrilled to direct Sanjay again after 23 years. Speaking about it, he said, "Like the spider gets its thread from his own guts. The narrative of Sadak 2 is pulled out from my lived life. It's a film about living, loving and dealing with the anguish of the loss of a loved one."

It is interesting to note that the original Sadak had established both Mahesh and Sanjay as two of the strongest pillars of the Hindi film industry. Moreover, Pooja and Sanjay were praised for their chemistry in Sadak and thus a sequel with the original cast definitely seemed like a good idea. But what more will Alia and Aditya add to the film, is still left to be seen.
