Will Rajkummar sign Hansal Mehta’s comedy film, to be produced by Ajay Devgn?

Rajkummar Rao’s stupendous performance in his new film Stree has worked wonders for him. So much so that his frequent collaborator, filmmaker Hansal Mehta has approached the actor for his upcoming project – a comedy film, which will be produced by Ajay Devgn – after watching Rajkummar's brilliant show in the Amar Kaushik-directed film.

With Mehta, Rajkummar has worked in four films – Shahid, CityLights, Aligarh and Omerta. Sources told a leading daily that Mehta, soon after watching Stree, told Ajay about his idea of casting Rajkummar for the role in the comedy film. Ajay, in fact, is excited about the project as well.

"After Hansal watched Stree, he was certain that Raj can bring his wit and comic timing to his film. Since the two have predominantly dealt with hard-hitting subjects in their past outings, including Omerta (2017), it will be interesting to see them explore the other end of the spectrum,” the source told the daily.

Rajkummar, however, is juggling an arduous schedule at the moment since he is busy with multiple projects and might have to rework his dates if he decides to sign Mehta’s film.

"Considering Raj has Made In China and Anurag Basu's Imali in the pipeline, he will have to reshuffle his dates. If all goes well, he will soon sign on the dotted line,” the source added.

Well, we’ll certainly know soon if he does.

Meanwhile, Rajkummar’s Stree is performing exceptionally well at the box office. Within six days of its release, Stree has already earned Rs 54.89 crore so far. Based on a female ghost who exists in Chanderi town, Stree casts Shraddha Kapoor opposite Rajkummar and co-stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana and Abhishek Banerjee.

The film released on August 31.
