Kedarnath’s release date under jeopardy due to 2.0; Thackeray terror for Super 30, Cheat India?

Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath has been facing one hurdle after another right from the time it was announced. From scheduling issues to producers walking out to uncertain release dates, the film overcame it all. Finally, Ronnie Screwvala took the project under his RSVP banner and saved the day and things became normal for some time. The release date of Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan’s debut film was decided as November 30, but that was not meant to be.

A few weeks after the film’s release date was announced, Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 was announced to release on November 29. Now, with such a film a releasing just a day before, rumours are rife that Kedarnath's dates will be shifted once again. The makers are baffled and looking for a suitable date for the film’s release but have not been able to zero down on any.

On the other hand, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s biopic Thackeray on Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray is slated to release on January 23, 2019, and in all probability will affect the box office outcome of Emraan Hashmi’s Cheat India and Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30, which are supposed to release on January 25, 2019.

Since Thackeray was an enigmatic figure and is still popular in the country, the makers of Hrithik’s Super 30 are planning to postpone the film’s release to a later date to avert a clash. Hrithik’s film is already facing a controversy as it will no longer be marketed as a biopic about Maths whiz Anand Kumar as he is facing allegations under a scam. Now, let’s wait and watch whether Hashmi’s Cheat India follows the same lead and shifts its release date too to a later date.
