My family cried after watching Dhadak; never felt this happier making someone cry: Janhvi

Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter’s Dhadak released last Friday, has received mixed reviews; some critics have praised the film and the new talent while some have called the film ordinary and mundane. Comparisons with the original Marathi film Sairat was bound to be made but Dhadak is a different film with different sensibilities and has managed to enthrall the Hindi audience who have not seen the Marathi film.

Today at the success meet for the film, Janhvi was asked about the reviews that have been pouring since the film has hit the screens. On this, she said, “I did a yay a hundred times when they praised me and cried in the bathroom when it was a nay.” Janhvi also opened up about the reactions that she received from her family. She said, “Everyone was crying after watching Dhadak in my family. Trust me, I never felt this happy making someone cry earlier.” Apparently, after seeing Dhadak Janhvi's father Boney Kapoor and sister Khushi Kapoor couldn't control their emotions and cried a river.

Janhvi also revealed that she has been advised by her family not to do any more remakes at the start of her career. Talking about the hard work that she has put in for her debut film Dhadak, the young actress said, “I feel more nervous now than I was at the trailer launch. From crying secretly in my bathroom to this stage, I have given my all to Dhadak.”

On the other hand, her co-star Ishaan spoke about the comparisons made between Dhadak and Sairat. He said that though he felt pressurized matching up to the huge success Sairat had received; they are all trying to be realistic about their own film. He said that Dhadak is an honest adaptation of Sairat but Janhvi and he should be given a chance by people and not make quick judgments because of their sentimental attachment to the Marathi superhit.

Dhadak is directed by Shashank Khaitan and is produced by Karan Johar under his Dharma Productions banner. The film is doing good business at the box office and will continue to rake in moolah with the positive word-of-mouth that it has garnered.
