An emotional Sanjay Dutt to Vicky Kaushal after watching Sanju: Puttar, tune dil jeet liya

Sure, Ranbir Kapoor took home all the laurels and appreciation for his portrayal of Sanjay Dutt in Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju. But the one person who constantly stole the spotlight from Ranbir in the film is Vicky Kaushal. Kaushal, who plays a loyal best friend Kamli, is being hailed for his brilliant craft and perfect delivery as a simple Gujarati chap with an unabashed love for Dutt.

Besides industry biggies like Shabana Azmi, Karan Johar, Aamir Khan, Meghna Gulzar amongst others showering praises on Vicky, Sanjay Dutt too couldn't stop himself from complimenting the actor to his heart's content. In a recent interview with a tabloid, Vicky shared the best compliment he received for Sanju, the one by the man himself. He told the newspaper:

"It came from the man himself, Sanjay Dutt. Raju sir held a screening, and after the film got over, called me to say that Sanjay sir wanted to talk to me. We communicated in Punjabi. He said, "I got really emotional with your performance. You have truly portrayed the meaning of friendship, and your act is accurate when I think of the friends I have had. Puttar, tune dil jeet liya [Son, you have won my heart.]" Sanjay sir is all heart. He loves to share happiness and love."

Vicky, in the recent times, been giving Bollywood buffs a dose of his versatility as an actor. There has been immense love pouring his way. When quizzed if he feels elated about his performance in Sanju being loved? He answered:

"It’s ironic but I haven’t seen the film yet. I’m in Serbia, shooting for my next, Uri, for the last one month, and, unfortunately they don’t screen Bollywood films here. I am missing out on celebrating the success with the entire team in Mumbai. However, I’m overwhelmed by the reaction that the film has received. I have been receiving congratulatory messages constantly. People have been saying that they all need a friend like Kamli [his character in the film]. For me, being a part of a Rajkumar Hirani film was a dream come true."

Well..well, we hope Vicky gets to watch his own film soon, for we can't wait to see how he reacts! After all, we have all loved Kamli immensely.

2018 has been commendable for Vicky with two theatre releases (Raazi and Sanju) and two Netflix films (Love Per Square Feet and Lust Stories). He is currently shooting for Uri in Serbia and will also be seen in Anurag Kashyap's Manmarziyaan.
