Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania starrer Veere Di Wedding hit the theatres on June 1 and has been appreciated by the audience and critics alike. While the female buddy film was certainly expected to be high on glam quotient, it perhaps has shattered all the reservations of filmmakers to make women-centric films.
Now with the film crossing the Rs 50-crore mark within a week of its release, it seems the filmmakers are considering to make a sequel. As per a leading daily, producers Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor wish to follow up Veere Di Wedding with a sequel.
"Ekta and Rhea may come from different schools of cinema, but have always aimed to make films that are distinctive, and become a talking point. With the success of Veere Di Wedding, several people from the industry have been encouraging them to work on a sequel since the film's concept and characters received so much love from the audience. At the dinner, the two had a discussion about the story lending itself to a franchise," a production insider revealed to the daily.
While the film saw the friends coming together for Kareena's character Kalindi's wedding, the sequel is expected to follow their lives and journey a few years ahead in time. The source added, "The story will require at least a year's work. Once that has been finalized, they will look at getting bulk dates from the four actors.”
It certainly is too premature to talk about the sequel yet, but we cannot wait to see the four actresses dazzle on the silver screen again.
