OMG with Rs.1000 crore budget, Aamir would need Mukesh Ambani to produce his Mahabharata series!

Aamir Khan has been pulling out of films and turning down all other offers to focus on his dream project – a never attempted-before film series inspired by the Mahabharata. It is touted to be the most ambitious film project Bollywood has ever seen and now we can well understand its scale… None other than Mukesh Ambani, India’s richest man, will apparently help fund this gargantuan film project!

Tremors of excitement hit today when it was revealed that when Aamir Khan eventually starts work on his dream epic, it could well have the backing of industrialist Mukesh Ambani. Buzz has it that the Reliance boss, who had recently invested in entertainment companies Eros and Ekta Kapoor's Balaji, is keen to co-produce the superstar’s most mammoth film yet for the big screen.

Mukesh’s involvement is rumoured to be a special and rare case which will not be repeated in future. There is no clarity yet whether Ambani intends entering film production via a separate company or whether his involvement will progress through his existing presence in media such as Jio and Viacom 18, in which he holds a controlling stake. Either way, Aamir’s enthusiasm has evidently found an answering echo in Mukesh Ambani, and that is huge news in itself!

Aamir’s Mahabharata film series is touted to be along the lines of such epic franchises as Lord Of The Rings and Game Of Thrones. It is said to comprise three – five parts and will be helmed by multiple directors. There is even talk of international writers being roped in to hone its storyline and make it appealing to a global audience. We are talking absolutely mega here and naturally, it requires a budget that is equally humungous. The rumoured budget, at this point, is expected to be a mind-numbing Rs.1,000 crore.

Of course, it would require a man with deep pockets, who as of January 2018, was ranked by Forbes as 18th-wealthiest person in the world, with a net worth of $43.2 billion, to display his largesse!
