Rajinikanth, adored as the ultimate boss, the long-loved leader, the absolute Sir of Tamil cinema, has gone ahead and done what fans never expected… He has expanded his presence on social media by joining Facebook. (He had also joined Instagram four days ago). And of course, he had to do it with some of his usual panache… The first post shows a still from his blockbuster Kabali, with the dialogue, “Vannakam! Vandhuten nu sollu! (Tell them that I have arrived). Oh my!
As of today, the superstar has 125k followers on Instagram and is following not a single person himself! On Facebook, he has a whopping 156,066 likes and 157025 followers.
The Thailava, as he is acknowledged far and wide, has recently taken the plunge into politics. After more than 20 years of will-he-won’t-he, he has promised to contest the next assembly elections from all seats in the state of Tamil Nadu. His debut on the platforms of Instagram and Facebook is seen as a move to reach out to the younger generations.
Yesterday he had made his first public speech after announcing his decision to enter politics. While addressing thousands of students at a private university outside Chennai, he declared that there was a "vacuum" in Tamil Nadu politics, which he would fill.

Back in 2014, when he had joined Twitter, he had commented, “I decided to start with Twitter because I felt that the platform is abuzz with all the news and the trends that happen across the globe and I’m told that this is where all the best Rajini one-liners are!” That sense of humour, again!
Incidentally, the superstar very rarely plugs his films on Twitter. He prefers to share his comments and sentiments on issues of national interest. Yet another reason why he’s the real boss. He tweets only occasionally and has over 4.5 million followers on Twitter.
