Sui Dhaaga is tough work: Varun cycles for 10 hours!

We’re all for a method and keeping it real, but 10 hours of cycling under the scorching sun in Madhya Pradesh…with a pillion rider?!

We’re doffing our hats to Varun Dhawan! The actor recently cycled for close to 10 hours in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, even as co-star Anushka Sharma was seated behind him.
It’s all part of the attempt of the makers of Sui Dhaaga — Made in India to ensure they retain the realistic feel of the film. The movie is set in the interiors of India, where bicycles are a common mode of transport. Naturally, the humble cycle was chosen for Varun as well.

The team is taking complete care to ensure that everything, from the characters’ looks to the costumes and other elements, is in sync with the film’s setting. Considerable time and effort are being put into drawing the audience into the film’s world, as a source revealed.
Now, Varun is a hunky, strong lad but the marathon cycling session came at a bad time. The actor had injured himself while shooting for a scene which required him to roll down a flight of stairs. Varun brushed off the suggestion of using a body double and shot the scene himself.

However, as luck would have it, a mishap occurred. One of the steps caved in, leading to Varun injuring his shoulder as he shot the scene. Still, he continued to shoot after a few hours, despite an aching shoulder.

The weather didn’t help either. Summer has already set in, in Chanderi, MP, where filming is in progress. Shooting this gruelling scene under the burning sun for 10 full hours, was no piece of cake for Varun and Anushka. Both were reportedly exhausted by the end of the day.

Sui Dhaaga is film about finding love and respect through self-reliance. It is a heart-warming story that is rooted in the Indian milieu and celebrates the spirit of self-reliance.
In the film, Anushka essays the role of an embroiderer, while Varun aka Mauji plays a tailor in the film. Their well-crafted looks have been setting the tone of the film right which promotes the campaign of Make In India.
