Just as we were thinking it would be Salman Khan alone romancing both Jacqueline Fernandez and Daisy Shah in Race 3 – and he is well capable of that, too! – there’s another male star who has apparently joined the cast. Say hello to Emraan Hashmi! The cool dude, whom we really haven’t seen enough of onscreen of late despite Badshaaho, has been approached to play the second male lead in this third instalment of the thriller franchise.
Apparently, Emraan has listened to a narration of the script and has liked it. The details are being worked on before he formally greenlights the project, and filming will begin this October once Salman is through with Tiger Zinda Hai.

Fact is, the casting of Race 3 has so many twists and turns, it has made for an exciting watch itself! Buzz has it that the makers had approached Sidharth Malhotra for the role but he turned it down without a second thought. Race 3 is touted to be a Salman Khan film all the way and there’s no way Sid would agree to this unequal share of footage.

To be directed by Remo D’Souza, the film re-unites the lovely Jacqueline Fernandez with her Kick leading man Salman Khan, who appears to have quite the soft spot for this Sri Lankan beauty. We spot Salman’s hand in the casting of Daisy Shah as well; the statuesque lass, who had made her debut opposite Salman in the 2014 release Jai Ho, was apparently specially recommended by Salman for Race 3.

The suave Emraan will fit right in with Race’s racy world. The franchise has been quite the rage since the original Race released in 2008, starring Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Akshaye Khanna, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor and Sameera Reddy. In the sequel which released in 2013 we had Anil and Saif reprising their roles as Robert D’Costa and Ranvir Singh, with Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Jacqueline and Ameesha Patel joining in to amp up the excitement. With director-duo Abbas-Mustan Burmawala taking a backseat this time, we do hope Remo keeps the Race flag flying high and wild!
