So far so good.
However, hours later, Anand flatly denied to PeepingMoon.com he was making any film with Kangana. “Tanu Weds Manu 3 is definitely not happening,” Anand said firmly. “The film I have in the pipeline is with Dhanush.”
Then, another twist in the tale.
Actor R Madhavan, the Manu is the franchise, expressed great surprise when asked if he was prepping for the third installment. “I am unaware of any such development,” he said, sounding shocked.
Now when two out of the three main Bollywood players involved in the Tanu Weds Manu series deny any idea or plan of the third part, people are wondering from where the story gained currency.
Bollywood gossipmongers, who love to hate Kangana, suspect that the Simran actress is the source behind this rumour. Was it her aggressive PR machinery that churned out this story? One wag said unkindly, “The debacle of her latest film at the box office could be the reason she wants to remain in the news one way or the other.”
Kangana is currently shooting for her ambitious project Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and has not responded to the Tanu Weds Manu 3 story. Going by her history of not resting till she sets records straight, it should not be long before Kangana comes up with her own spirited version of what’s happening with Tanu Weds Manu 3.
Even film critic Taran Adarsh confirmed the news:
Twist in the tale is, in a recent update, Kangana claimed to a website that she had refused the sequel to this film long ago! "The publication who printed Mr. Aanand L Rai's quote along with the confirmation of the same claims that he did confirm the sequel to them. Based on the recent denial from his end all I can gather is that he first announced it and then denied," quoted the actress.
