Pearl V Puri gets bail in alleged rape case, to appear at the police station as directed by the Vasai Court

Pearl V Puri, who was arrested in an alleged rape case, was finally granted bail today (June 15). Earlier, Pearl's bail plea was rejected by the Vasai court. The actor was arrested by Waliv Police on June 4 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly raping a minor girl.

Pearl's lawyer Jitesh Agarwal confirmed the news this afternoon. It was the third hearing for Pearl V Puri's bail plea in the Vasai court. The Court has asked Pearl to appear at the police station as and when asked.

Pearl was arrested under CR IPC 376 AB, r/w POCSO Act 4, 8, 12,19, 21. The actor was in judicial custody for 11 days before receiving bail today afternoon. 

For the unversed, to deal with child sexual abuse cases, the Government has brought in a special law, namely, The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. The Act is a comprehensive law to provide for the protection of children from the offences of sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography while safeguarding the interests of the child at every stage of the judicial process by incorporating child-friendly mechanisms for reporting, recording of evidence, investigation and speedy trial of offences through designated Special Courts.
