The Limerick label by Abirr N Nanki fashionably explored an ode to astral inspirations between astrology and astronomy with their collection 'Back to the Stars' at the FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week. Unveiling the line that worked around the 12 Zodiac signs for inspiration, the designing duo’s S/S 2022 collection was presented in four elements – air, water, fire and earth that matched the colour story.

The detailing was totally contemporary with the meticulous use of silver and laser cut techniques, along with metallic touches and tantalizing acrylic tassels that were all handcrafted to add a touch of mysticism to the ensembles.

The silhouettes highlighted the resort wear look along with saris that were introduced as traditional options for the more conservative dresser. The fashion-forward menu comprised a blend of stylish offerings, when structured pantsuits, kaftans, playsuits and the glorious saris some with metallic edging brought forth a mélange of sartorial statements.

It was a riot of colours and prints for the four sections as knee-length skirts looked demure with long-sleeved blouses, while sharply cut jackets with contrast lapels stole the show.  But the wide, fluid palazzos were great when worn with matching bralette and beach robe. The ombré effect appeared periodically, while the billowy, dolman-sleeved mini, wrap tie-up short jacket, one-shouldered maxi and the fluid cold shoulder gown created a fashion story. Giant lapels occasionally appeared for coats and the zodiac signs’ prints on an inky background showcased the theme of the collection perfectly.

GEISHA DESIGNS BY PARAS AND SHALINI

Geisha Designs by Paras and Shalini showcased a fashionably positive collection on the Day 1 of the soiree. Their “New Beginnings” line was all about celebrating the joi de vivre with a clean white slate as an inspiration. Aimed at the woman who celebrates life and self-love, the ensembles were feminine, flouncy and at times delicately flirty.

Lustrous silk and satin played a perfect melodious fabric symphony, while myriad colours danced on the surfaces. Embroidery was the star focal point, but in a delicate but radiant format that created an amazing impact on the garments. Frills and ruffles played a vital role to highlight the utterly feminine line, which will appeal to women who are embarking on a new and exciting fashion path.

Cute boleros over bustier, some with cut-out long-sleeves and an embellished waistcoat inspired choli, brought a fun element to the collection, while the will-powered gown made a grand entry. Saris were edged with fluttering 3D flowers and looked amazing in their multi-coloured hues. Showing a fashion direction towards exaggerated puffed sleeves with the long skirts, the designing duo ensured that drama was at its peak during the line-up of clothes.

Lakme Salon and Chola by Sohaya Mishra joined hands to present their collection ‘The Awakening’ on Day 1 on LFW. This collection celebrated and embraced the new normal, stemming from the changes in lifestyle and mindset during the lockdowns, where we were our most authentic, best selves -- free-spirited and brave.

The duo presented 6 curated looks that exuded style. The team of experts at Lakmé Salon, introduced carefree, bold and vibrant hairstyles and striking makeup looks, complemented beautifully by Chola’s easy separates, deconstructed styles and flowy silhouettes in saturated hues like yellow, green, pinks, blue and navy, and neutrals like white and black.

The fabrics used in this collaboration were luscious and breathable organic cottons, kala cottons and soft linens. Pre-stitched sarees, asymmetrical dresses, boxy shirts, crop tops and jackets come together with trousers and skirts for everyday luxury wear.

On the glamour front, the hair collection embodied texture and trends with cuts like the modern shag, the pixie cut, the mullet and long layered braids for women, and a textured quiff for men. Hair colours like green, orange, hot pink and ash blond upgraded each look to redefine style in the new age.

The makeup for each look stood out with glass glow skin, luscious lip stains in gorgeous, deep hues and sensual reverse eyes, created by the Lakmé Salon team of Backstage Makeup Experts.

Wow, we can feel the rush already. Can’t wait to see what drama unfolds on Day2!
