Shiny metallics to fringed drama, 5 raging fashion trends from the runway of Milan Fashion Week SS/22

As the world tries to emerge from the grappling effects of COVID-19, Milan Fashion Week pulled out the big guns to raise the fashion stakes. The Spring/ Summer 22 unleashed oodles of drama with a dose of escapism from the pandemic-stricken world. Undoubtedly, the fashion week closed with a bang birthing a hybrid brand of ‘Fendace’- a creative collection that was a result of a historic swap between the luxury houses of Fendi and Versace.

While this remains the spectacular moment from this year’s MFW, here are some other raging trends that caught our attention. From warm and neutral tones to shiny metallics, here are the five trends that made the right noise:

Thanks to labels like Max Mara, Prada, Tod’s amongst the others, we saw a lot of leather on the runway. From Max Mara’s double-breasted pieces to Prada’s biker jackets, leathers were a notable part of the SS22 collection.

NEUTRAL TONES

While popping, highlighter hues continue to be a raging trend, what took the centre-stage were the warm, neutral tones. Pantsuits in the soothing hues of powder blue, cream and grey were spotted often on the runway. Padded shoulders to oversized fits cinched with belts… seems like the fashion industry is ready to get back to work!

SHINY METALLICS

The ramp witnessed a heavy dose of glamour in form of shiny metallic suits, glided skirts and chainmail gowns and we cannot thank the Fendi, Versace and Missoni enough!

FRINGES AND TASSELS

After a long hiatus drama returned back to the bay and this season we witnessed some punk fashion with tasseled and fringed mini dresses from Fendi, Salvatore Ferragamo, Alberta Ferretti, to name a few.

ANIMAL PRINTS

No fashion week is complete without the signature animal prints. The animal kingdom unleashed on the runway with zebra-striped textured jackets and leopard-printed suits hogging the spotlight. Apart from printed blazers, we saw a lot of flowing gowns and minis along with jumpsuits high on animal prints.

So, which trend was your favourite?
