Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actress Divya Bhatnagar passed away at a hospital in Mumbai on Sunday night after putting forth a tough fight against COVID-19. While the television industry is remembering her for her cheerful and friendly nature, her friend Devoleena Bhattacharjee came out in the open about the torture she went through when she was married to Gagan. Now, as Divya's family is shattered and heartbroken by her untimely demise, her brother Devashish Bhatnagar revealed that the actress left behind a note stating that Gagan tortured and abused her. In conversation with a leading daily, Devashish mentioned Divya wrote a note on November 7 and it was found in her cupboard. The 36-year-old had filed a Non-cognizable complaint against him.
"Gagan started torturing Divya physically and mentally soon after their marriage. She had written a note on November 7, in which she had stated that Gagan tortures and abuses her. We found the note in her cupboard yesterday. She had also approached the police and filed an NC on November 16 against him, following an episode of domestic abuse. I had told her to stay strong when I got to talk to her during her hospitalisation," Devashish told.
Devoleena, in an emotional video message on Instagram, said she will expose Gagan and revealed there is a molestation case pending against him in Shimla. "I will share proof about his actions one by one. Gagan Gabru, you will rot in jail. God will not forgive you," Devoleena said.
Divya married Gagan in 2019. Divya's mother, in an interview after the actress's hospitalisation, said, "Whatever anyone may tell you, the time has come to spill the truth. Her husband was a fraud. He has left her and is not bothered to even come forward for a while. She married without informing us. I am aghast that post marriage she has been living in a very small place in Oshiwara. She was living in a big house at Mira Road earlier. She has undergone a lot in the recent past."
