Zaan Khan and other cast and crew of serial ‘Hamari Bahu Silk’ hold protest outside producer’s building for non-payment of dues

Hamari Bahu Silk’s cast and crew are still fighting to get their dues cleared by the show’s producer. Lead actor Zaan Khan along with a few crew members of their show held a protest today outside producer Devyani Rale’s residence at Yari Road in Mumbai. The cast and crew members held a silent protest as they claimed that they have been paid only for one month despite shooting for the serial for seven months.

In the on-going altercation between the producers and the cast, CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes Association) Chairperson Amit Behl and IFTPC (Indian Film and Television Director's Association) Chairman JD Majethia had also tried to intervene and solve the mess but to no fruition. A leading daily, reported the lead actress Chahat Pandey (who is in her hometown Damoh, Madhya Pradesh), “Zaan has no option left now but to do something to get us the money. If I was in Mumbai, I would have been there with him. The protest is justified. All our pleas have fallen on deaf ears."

Casting director of the show Parag Chadha also joined the protests. He said, “We managed to locate Devyani's building with immense difficulty. Learning that we are below her building, she has switched off her phone. Now, Zaan and Rahul (the show's director) have gone inside the building to talk to the Secretary."

Chahat and Zaan had been fighting to get their dues since quite some time now. Their plight went viral as they spoke out against the producers Devyani, Jyoti Gupta and Sudhanshu Tripathi on social media but they are still to be paid.
