Tahira Kashyap refutes rumours of her mother playing the role of demon Trijata in ‘Ramayan’

Ramanand Sagar’s iconic serial Ramayan based on the Hindu epic had its re-run on popular demand on Doordarshan amid the Coronavirus Lockdown. The serial once again managed to ignite people’s imagination and managed to hold everyone’s attention. Other than the main leads such as Arun Govil, Dipika Chikhlia, Sunil Lahri, Dara Singh and Arvind Trivedi there were several other characters that became exceedingly popular too this time around. Among them was Vijay Arora’s Meghnad aka Indrajit, Nalin Dave's Kumbhkaran and Trijata.

Social media was abound with news claiming that the demon Trijata's role was played by the mother-in-law of Ayushmann Khurrana. However, there is no truth to these theories as his wife Tahira Kashyap Khurrana has issued a statement negating such claims. Fans claimed that Ayushmann’s mother-in-law, Anita Kashyap played the kind-hearted demon Trijata in Ramayan. She was the one who befriends Sita and is always by her side when she was captured by Ravana and put in captivity in Lanka’s Ashok Vatika. Tahira said in a statement, "There's no truth to these reports of my mother Mrs. Anita Kashyap starring in the Ramayan show. All these reports are false. She was an educationist and has no connection with this show, whatsoever."
