While his performance as Sujal from Kahin To Hoga made him popular overnight, he was soon addressed as the Rajesh Khanna of television for an uncanny resemblance to the veteran. Not just this, the show also got him a compliment from the first superstar of Bollywood for his performance in the daily soap. Well, yes. Rajeev, during an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon, revealed that Rajesh called him to be a better actor than himself. Rajeev told that he attended a star-studded party and thanks to Reena Roy, the two 'RKs' met.
"It feels nice but right from the beginning, I had kept it away from my personal life as the show made me popular overnight and I didn’t know how to handle the fame. Then I realised the female fan following was for Sujal and not Rajeev. I was at a party where veteran actors were present. Actress Reena Roy came to me, pulled my cheeks and said,’Haye mera favourite aa gaya. Tu na mujhe Kaka lagta hai. Tera naam bhi RK hai’. Then can you imagine Rajesh Khanna happened to be around? She took me along to Rajesh Khanna and said, ‘Yeh dekho new generation ka Rajesh Khanna. Iska naam bhi RK hai’. Kaka looked at me and said, ‘You know what is the difference between you and me? You are a better actor than me’. It was so humble of him to say these things to a newcomer. Kaka was a veteran then and I was just a newcomer," Rajeev told.
