Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fans! Get ready to dance to the tunes of garba as chances of Disha Vakani aka Dayaben Gada returning to the sit-com soon are high. If reports of a leading daily are to be taken into consideration, the producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Asit Kumar Modi, in an interview to the daily said he is open to all kinds of possibilities and dropped in a hint regarding Disha's comeback on the show post a long maternity break.
Asit further added that he is aware of the popularity of Dayaben's character and knows that the audience is waiting with bated breath to see their favourite bahu on screen soon.
However, the makers had announced that auditions for Disha's replacement are in progress and news of Ami Trivedi of Papad Pol fame stepping into her shoe surfaced across media. Ami, in an interview with a leading daily said, "No, I have not been approached, but my friends have been telling me that I should take up the role and would suit the character. I have not been offered the role, nor have the makers tried to reach me out."
For the unversed, Disha tied the knot with Mayur Padia in 2015 and had taken maternity leave in September 2017. After a hiatus of six months, Disha was likely to resume the shoot. But now, it has been almost two years since the actress has been missing on the screen.
Talking about the show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been a hit on television since it aired for the first time on July 28, 2008. The show revolves around a co-operative society named Gokuldham Society and its residents. Disha plays the role of Dayaben Gada, wife of a businessman named Jethalal Gada who form the central characters in the show aired on Sab TV.
