Popular TV actor Gautam Rode has filed a complaint against a real estate developer for allegedly cheating him and two others of nearly Rs 8 crore. The actor has lodged a complaint with EOW (Economic offences wing). The actor claimed that he and the other two buyers had booked flats at an under-construction building in Goregaon West, one of the suburb areas of Mumbai. Unfortunately, the construction has not progressed after 14th floor since 2016.
According to the FIR lodged, Gautam was informed by the developer, Atithi Patel that it would be a 55-storey building which is still under construction in Goregaon. The builder also stated that he had taken all the permissions from the required authorities and promised to give possession by December 2018. Thus the actor booked 2,445 sq ft area flat on the 31st floor for Rs 4 crore. The builder asked him to pay a huge amount of Rs 1.5 crore and a monthly instalment of Rs 5 lakh after it. The actor made payments of Rs 2.11 crore between May 2016 and March 2017 to the organisation.
The FIR further states that Gautam made a request to be given an allotment letter but to no avail. He repeatedly requested the flat registration however, no agreement was drawn up. When construction work would not progress beyond the 14th floor, Rode asked the developer to refund his money; however, he didn’t get it.
On the other hand, Atithi Patel’s representative states that builders never give a refund after cancellation. In fact, they have asked Gautam to wait for a few months. The builder also stated that the actor was delaying the registration of the flat. However, they did not mention about the progress of the construction in the FIR copy.
On the work front, Gautam was last seen in mythological serial, Suryaputra Karn as warrior Karna. A few months back, the actor was in news for his marriage with TV actress Pankhuri Awasthi.
