Mohit Raina is known for his portrayal of Lord Shiva in Devon Ke Dev Mahadev. Not many know that he is a football enthusiastic, so much so that he had even finalised plans to watch the FIFA World Cup Final at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.

However, the actor, who is currently shooting for his film Uri, based on the September 2016 terror attack on the Indian security forces camp in Uri, Kashmir, had to abort his plans.

Since, the actor was required to shoot during the weekend in Serbia, where a marathon schedule was already underway. So, there’s no way Mohit could travel from Serbia to the Russian capital for the match. That’s why he had no option but to give it a miss.

Talking about his love for the patriotic genre he says, “It was my dream to join the Indian Army. Since that never got fulfilled, I make up for it by playing a soldier whenever I get a chance. Also, I have always taken up challenging roles on television. So, though I love commercial films, I wanted something different for my film debut as well. ‘Uri’ has actors like Vicky Kaushal and Paresh Rawal, and it will be a learning experience working with them. Whether it is mythology, history or any other genre, the role has to be backed by strong content.”

Producer Ronnie Screwvala announced the film on Indian Army’s surgical strike in Pakistan occupied Kashmir that took place after September 2016 attacks in Uri. Earlier this year, the film has gone on floors. The film stars Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal and Kriti Kulhari in lead roles.
