Varun’s acting

After playing a slew of different characters in films like Badrinath ki Dulhania, ABCD 2 and Judwaa 2, shows a different side of himself in this tender and touching story about love. He is sincere and determined as Dan, who single-mindedly devotes himself to caring for Shiuli (Banita Sandhu), who has suffered a nasty accident and is incapacitated. Varun had revealed that the film has had such a big impact that after finishing the shoot, there were days when he just wanted to be alone. “I couldn't meet people. I didn't want to interact too much with people and I just felt that...I was just viewing my life and I was like why am I living it in this way and I made some changes to what kind of person I am. I've tried to put that back in my work. It's almost like someone put a reset button on me.”

Banita’s debut

The large-eyed, vulnerable looking Banita Sandhu makes her big screen debut as Shiuli and her magic is there to see in the trailer. Just 20, she had caught the attention of director Shoojit Sircar when he shot a simple yet beautiful tale through the Doublemint’s ‘Ek ajnabee haseena se…’ song with her as the female lead. Shoojit shares, “Everyone was in awe of Banita from the chewing gum commercial which I had directed…One day, I clicked a picture of Banita and sent it to Juhi saying, ‘She has the potential to fit into the character that we are looking at’.” Banita apparently does that perfectly.

Shoojit’s vision

The trailer is proof of Shoojit Sircar’s redoubtable reputation as one of the best filmmakers of our times. He crafts a world that is intense and emotional even as it is identifiably realistic. Love, pain, devotion all meld in the nuanced and charming realm he crafts, of the story of love between Dan and Shiuli. Just like his past films, Yahaan, Madras Café, Vicky Donor, Pink and Piku, October is set to entrance.

Juhi Chaturvedi’s story

Juhi Chaturvedi has already made her mark as a screenwriter of immense talent. Her award-winning scripts for Vicky Donor (2012) and Piku (2015) are proof of her flair for carving stories that are different and strike an immediate chord with audiences. Juhi took around two-and-a-half years to write the story of October. She maintains that making a film with an original story takes more hard work and time. “It takes more time to write a story and people do not have the patience to wait. They just want to make a film as fast as possible.” Fortunately, in the case of October, they waited.

Music and Visuals

Playing a crucial part in creating the mood of the film, is the music by Shantanu Moitra, Anupam Roy, Komail Shayan and Abhishek Arora. Haunting and moody, this is music that remains long after the trailer stops playing. Add to that, locations that have been breathtakingly shot, and the trailer of October promises an unmissable experience.
