‘Completely false and absolute nonsense,’ says Nagarjuna Akkineni slamming reports about his comments on Samantha Ruth Prabhu and son Naga Chaitanya’s divorce

An interview of Nagarjuna Akkineni has been going viral since morning in which he seemingly commented for the first time on his son Naga Chaitanya’s divorce from wife Samantha Ruth Prabhu. However, Nagarjuna took to social media in the evening to negate the news reports as fake and ‘absolute nonsense’. He also requested ‘media friends to please refrain from posting rumours as news’.

Taking to Twitter, Nagarjuna wrote, “The news in social media and electronic media quoting my statement about Samantha & Nagachaitanya is completely false and absolute nonsense!! I request media friends to please refrain from posting rumours as news. #GiveNewsNotRumours.”

The online portal had quoted Nagarjuna during an interview in which he had said that Samantha applied for divorce first and problems crept in the lives of the couple post New Year 2021. The portal quoted the actor as saying, “Naga Chaitanya accepted her decision but he was more worried about me, what I would think and what would happen to the family's reputation. Naga Chaitanya consoled me as he thought I will be worried. They have been together for four years in their marriage life, but no problem like this came between them. They were so close and I don't know how it boiled down to this decision. They even celebrated New Year 2021 together. It looks like problems between them have arisen after that."

In October 2021, Naga Chaitanya and Samantha had announced their separation. At that time Nagarjuna had tweeted, “With a heavy heart, let me say this! whatever happened between Sam and Chay is very unfortunate. What happens between a wife and husband is very personal. Sam and Chay are dear to me. My family will always cherish the moments spent with sam and she will always be dear to us! May God bless them both with strength (sic)."

Samantha and Naga Chaitanya had got married in a fairytale wedding ceremony in 2017 according to both South Indian and Christian rituals. The couple went their separate ways after four years of marriage.
