Korean actress Youn Yuh-jung won the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in Minari. It was the first Korean acting win in the ceremony's 93-year history. The award was presented to the actress by Brad Pitt. The actor had won the Best Supporting Actor trophy in 2020 for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
Brad, after presenting the award to Youn Yuh-jung, stepped aside. In her acceptance speech, the actress turned to Brad, who was standing off the screen and told, "Mr Brad Pitt, finally. Nice to meet you. Where were you when we were filming? It's an honour to meet you." She further said, "How can I win over Glenn Close?" She added, "Maybe I'm just luckier than you." She thanked her sons for making her go out and work.
