‘Truly disappointed, our family has an identity, privacy,’ says Gucci family slamming Adam Driver’s and Lady Gaga’s film House of Gucci

The Gucci family has slammed Ridley Scott’s new film House of Gucci that stars Adam Driver and Lady Gaga in the lead role. The film revolves around the murder of Maurizio Gucci (played by Driver) by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani (played by Gaga), who was tried and convicted of orchestrating his assassination on the steps of his office in 1995. The events are based on the true story of the killing. Dubbed by “Black Widow” by the press, Reggiani served 18 years in prison for ordering the assassination.

Patrizia Gucci, one of Maurizio’s second cousins told a news agency in a statement, “We are truly disappointed. I speak on behalf of the family. They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system…Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything, but there is a borderline that cannot be crossed.”

As per reports, Patrizia has also tried to contact Scott’s wife and the producer of the film, Giannina Facio. She has also expressed her displeasure with the paparazzi photos taken from the sets that shows inaccurate depiction of the actors. She said, “My grandfather was a very handsome man, like all the Guccis, and very tall, blue eyes and very elegant. He is being played by Al Pacino, who is not very tall already, and this photo shows him as fat, short, with sideburns, really ugly. Shameful, because he doesn’t resemble him at all.”

Patrizia also pointed out to the inaccuracies with the film’s source material- Sara Gay Forden’s book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed as one of her family’s key concerns, along with the lack of current contact with Scott’s production company. She also raised objections to Jared Leto playing Paolo Gucci and said, “Horrible, horrible. I still feel offended.”
