‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’ trailer: Max Harwood portrays the struggle and triumph of coming out at 16 as a drag queen

20th Century Studios has dropped the first trailer for their upcoming film Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in honour of National Coming Out Day. The film stars debutant Max Harwood in the titular role as a 16-year-old teenager with ambitions and aspirations of becoming a drag queen. The film is the adaptation of the acclaimed musical of the same name and is based on true events.

When Jamie announces he is wearing a dress to his school prom, he faces an uphill task of overcoming prejudice and battling his own doubts of being himself. The only thing he knows for certain is that he is going to be a sensation. The film’s trailer is about the spirit of acceptance, celebration and being true to oneself. As Jamie says in the trailer, “I don’t just want to be a drag queen, I have to be one.”
