Watch: BTS lights up the stage at MTV VMAs 2020; makes debut with new single 'Dynamite'

During the virtual 2020 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook performed their new English-language track Dynamite remotely from South Korea for the first time since its release, marking their first-ever appearance on the VMAs.

The group’s first song recorded entirely in English, Dynamite was released on August 20 as an attempt to lift fans’ spirits during quarantine. “We also needed a breakthrough during these unforeseen times, so we worked on this new song,” BTS said during a virtual press conference. “This is a new challenge for us as well. When we first heard and recorded the song, we were energized and our spirits were lifted up. We can’t wait to share this song with you all.”

The group brought the retro vibe of their music video to life as they danced in front of a New York City skyline dressed in vintage styles.

BTS was nominated for best pop, best choreography and best K-pop — a category they won in both 2019 and 2020.
