On Tuesday, the nominations for the 72nd annual Emmy Awards were unveiled. The nominees were announced during a virtual event hosted by Leslie Jones along with Josh Gad, Laverne Cox and Tatiana Maslany, who presented the contenders. Speaking of the nominations list, Popular OTT giant Netflix received 160 nods. HBO's Watchmen secured most nominations for any series with 26 nods. Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel received 20 nods while Netflix’s Ozark and HBO’s Succession secured 18 nods each.
Speaking of Watchmen, it focuses on America's racial clashes amid a pandemic. It was nominated in the category of Best Limited Series. However, the major nominations surprised fans. With Zendaya being nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series, it came across as a surprise that Resse Witherspoon was snubbed. Indian actor Dev Patel secured a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a comedy series for Modern Love. He is the only Indian to feature on the list.
