Is Johnny Depp the top contender to play Joker in Robert Pattinson's 'The Batman'?

Johnny Depp, in the recent past, has been making headlines for his turbulent relationship with estranged wife Amber Heard. While he is still fighting a legal case against her, his professional life faced a major set-back. Best known for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise lost out a number of projects after Amber made allegations of domestic abuse against back a couple of years ago. However, she recently confessed to 'hit' him instead. Now, as the matter is still in legal hands, Johnny, it seems, is being considered for Matt Reeves' The Batman starring Robert Pattinson. The film which is already in its production stage is eyeing to rope in Joker in the form of Johnny. Well, yes.

According to reports of an international publication, the makers are considering to bring onboard Johnny. As per the report, Warner Bros are zeroing down on actors suitable for the role and the Pirates Of The Caribbean star is topping the list. For the unversed, rumour had it that before roping in late Heath Ledger for the role of Joker, the makers of the film had Johnny into consideration.

Well, until an official confirmation arrives, it remains interesting to keep a close watch on this update.

Speaking of The Batman, Robert will play the titular role of Batman aka Bruce Wayne while Zoe Kravitz has been cast as Selina Kyle or Catwoman. Andy Serkis is Alfred Pennyworth, Paul Dano is Edward Nashto aka The Riddler and Jeffrey Wright will be seen as Commissioner Gordon. The Batman is said to release on June 25, 2021.
