Actress-comedienne Rebel Wilson 'single-handedly breathes life' into BAFTA Awards 2020 with her speech as she pulls out a 'Prince Harry' remark

Australian actress-comedienne Rebel Wilson made a show-stealing speech at the 2020 British Academy of Film and Televisions Film Awards (BAFTAs) took place on Sunday. From talking about the recent controversies in the royal family and the coronavirus to the Baftas’ lack of diversity, Rebel was at her hilarious best and tweeple could not help but praise her for “single-handedly breathing life into the Baftas”.

Introducing the best director category, Rebel commenced by joking around the venue itself: the Royal Albert Hall. “It is really great to be here at the Royal Andrew – royal Harry, no, sorry – Royal Phil – ah, at this royal palace place,” she said. That was not all! She even commented on coronavirus as she held the Baftas trophy – a bronze mask – up to her face, calling it “a great way to stop yourself from getting it."

Meanwhile, BAFTAs this year replaced luxurious gift bags for guests this year with “gifting wallets” made from recycled plastics and filled with gift cards. She joked about it saying, “Which is funny because [gifting wallet] is also the nickname of my vagina,” adding, “So maybe it is me who will win best original score at the afterparty tonight.” Last but not the least, she snubbed her beleaguered musical Cats apart from calling out the lack of diversity among BAFTAs nominations. “I look at the exceptional, daring talent nominated in this category and I don’t think I could do what they do,” Wilson quipped. “Honestly, I just don’t have the balls," she signed off.
