Morbius trailer: Jared Leto unleashes his dark side as he transforms into a vampire for this new Marvel antihero story

Oscar-winner Jared Leto is back on the silver screen playing the dark character, this time around he is stepping into the shoes of Marvel antihero Morbius, the Living Vampire. A day after glimpses of the trailer was leaked online, Sony Pictures have unveiled the official trailer that introduces us to the little known character Michael Morbius.

The trailer gives a little background story about the character since this is the first film on the antihero. The trailer shows Morbius’s difficult childhood, adulthood and his quest to find a cure to his rare blood disease and finally his transformation into a pseudo-vampire out on a hunt for blood.

Leto plays Morbius, a Nobel Prize-winning biochemist who tried to find a cure for blood disease through electroshock therapy and bats. However, the experiment comes with a rather gruesome side-effect as he develops the qualities of a vampire.

The trailer interestingly featured a surprise cameo by Michael Keaton who played the villain Vulture in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Morbius: The Living Vampire battled Spider-Man several times in the comics but later on was developed as a sort of antihero in his own right. Morbius has been directed by Daniel Espinosa and the script has been written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. The film is slated for a summer 2020 release.
