Disney’s Aladdin: Will Smith’s first look as Genie leaves fans perturbed and nonplussed

The fans are not happy with the CGI used

After the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast, Disney is working its way through a roster of classic animated films which it is redeveloping for the new-age audience and Aladdin is the next on the offing. The film’s new trailer was released during Sunday night’s Grammy Awards; people are feeling dubious about the need to ruin a classic like Aladdin with a CGI version of Will Smith as the iconic blue Genie voiced by the legendary late Robin Williams.

The netizens were highly perturbed with the CGI and Smith’s characterization. The internet was flooded with unsavory and scathing remarks about the trailer and if the company takes them into accord then Disney might want to rework the animation for Smith’s Genie before the film hits theaters in May. Most people resorted to Genie GIFs and memes to express their disappointment with the CGI and the film. However, there were a few who still stood by the film.
