Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan and Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha are clashing at the box office on August 11. At the launch of Raksha Bandhan's song titled Tere Saath Hoon Main, Akshay reacted to the box office clash with Laal Singh Chaddha. The superstar hoped both films perform well.
"Voh kaafi accha din hai. 2-3 din ki chutti bhi hai aur bohot aasani se 2-3 filmein chal sakti hai. COVID-19 ki wajah se 2.5 years industry ne lose kiya hai aur yeh toh hona hi hai. Aamir aur meri pehle bhi films clash hui hai- Welcome aur Taare Zameen Par (in 2007). Voh dono chali thi toh main ummeed karta hu yeh dono bhi chalengi," Akshay told media at the launch event.
Earlier, the director of Raksha Bandhan, Aanand L Rai, reacted to the clash and said, "It's a very good weekend. I was just telling somebody that it's not a weekend. It's a vacation as there are almost 5-7 days of holidays. It's a very long weekend and both films will definitely do well. It's the right space for two films to come. If not for us, somebody else would have released their film on that day. We were only making sure three films didn't come on the same day. If that was the case, we would have avoided that. But, two films can definitely come that weekend."
Raksha Bandhan co-stars Bhumi Pednekar, Sadia Khateeb, Deepika Khanna, Smrithi Srikanth and Sahejmeen Kaur. It is backed by Colour Yellow Productions in association with Cape of Good Films. Laal Singh Chaddha also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya, Mona Singh and Manav Vij in important roles. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film is the Hindi adaptation of Tom Hanks’ Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump. It is produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and Viacom18 Studios.
