Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi has received a big thumbs up from critics and audience alike. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it is one of the first biggest films to release in theatres after the third wave of COVID-19. Now, as Gangubai Kathiawadi continues to attract the audience to theatres, Alia's mentor and renowned filmmaker Karan Johar has praised the actress for her performance in the film. 

Karan shared his unbiased view on Gangubai Kathiawadi on his Instagram story. He wrote, "To say that she is breathtaking..to say that she is stupendous... to say that she is by far one of the best actors we have or have ever had is not just stating a fact but still not saying enough about her brilliance! Alia Bhatt, what are you? Yes, this is unbiased and from my heart! Sanjay Bhansali is a magician and she has performed his every celluloid trick with precision and perfection! #gangubaikathiawadi."

On Twitter, Karan lauded Gangubai Kathiawadi and wrote, "Sanjay Bhansali weaves his magic like a bonafide movie maverick and @aliaa08 is perfection! Stupendous! Beyond brilliant! Gangubai Kathiawadi released in theatres on February 25. The film also stars Ajay Devgn, Seema Pahwa, Shantanu Maheshwari, Jim Sarbh and Indira Tiwari.
